Shades of Anger, May 11, 2024

May 11, 2024

Good morning! Important reminder: YOU can help the people in your life learn the truth about Palestinian culture and history.

Editor’s note: today, Saturday, May 11, is World Keffiyeh Day. Plan to wear a keffiyeh proudly, or buy one if you don’t have one yet! Learn more about the symbolism of the keffiyeh, and find out where to buy one, here (reminder: do NOT buy a keffiyeh from Amazon, since they are on the boycott/sanction/divest list).

LEARN. Watch this video, “Palestine, a Story of Colonialism and Resistance,” by UK organization Makan.org.

Image description is below image.

Image credit: Makan. org. Image description: a screenshot of the beginning of the video, with the title at the top of the screen that reads, “Palestine, a Story of Colonialism and Resistance.” Below that is the name of the organization, “Makan.” Several images of daily life and culture are on top of a gray-green background. In the center of the image is what appears to be an internet search box with the words, “palestinian culture?” typed in it.

NOTICE. How much of the story of the oppression of Palestinian people did you know before you watched this short overview video? In what ways do you feel more connected to the people of Palestine now?

ACT. Invite several friends, colleagues or family members to watch this video and discuss Palestine with you. Then, make a generous gift to UNRWA, here, and ask your friends to give generously, too.

SHARE. Right now, send this email to at least 5 people you know who care deeply about human suffering and ending oppression.

ASK. In what ways is your heart telling you to act to help liberate Palestine? Please reply to this email to let us know.

In solidarity for Palestinian liberation,

Shades of Anger was created by a global collective of women to raise awareness and inspire action to free Palestine. We also believe in liberation for Sudan, the Congo, Haiti, and all places where systems of oppression are causing immense suffering and crushing the life out humans. We are led by women of the Global Majority/BIPOC. Shades of Anger is for everyone who wants to act for liberation and you can learn more about it here.
