Nakba 76 is TOMORROW, Wed, May 15

Shades of Anger, May 14, 2024 post

May 14, 2024

Good morning! Important reminder: YOU can speak up and say 76 years of brutal Israeli occupation of Palestine is enough. We will not let it turn into 77 years!

LEARN. Tomorrow, Wednesday, May 15, is the day of commemoration of the Nakba in 1948, when Israeli forces displaced at least half of the Palestinian population of the lands forcibly renamed “Israel.” Learn the full story by going to one of our favorite resources, ESTE Inc’s “Teach for Palestine,” here, and type in “Nakba” in the search bar. (Shades of Anger also featured the wonderful Teach for Palestine site in early April, here.)

The text reads “Hands off Rafah; Workplace action on Nakba Day, Weds 15 May.” In the lower left corner is a graphic that says, “PSC,” and in the lower right, the graphic reads, “Stop the War Coalition.”

NOTICE. How does it feel to know that Israeli brutality against Palestinians has been going on for 76 years - and that it continues to escalate with each passing day? Do you feel angry, betrayed, disgusted, horrified, intensely sad, or something else?

ACT. Find and participate in at least one Nakba Day action in your area! There are actions planned around the world to occur over the next several days. Contact local friends who will know what’s planned, go to your social media or do a search in any browser. If you are in the UK, you can participate in the Workplace Action being organized by Palestinian Solidarity Campaign (click here or on the image above).

SHARE. Right now, send this email to 5 people you know who should want to learn about and act for Palestine this week.

ASK. What do you want to learn about the Nakba? Please reply to this email (or, if you are reading this online, leave a comment below) to let us know.*

In solidarity for Palestinian liberation,

Shades of Anger was created by a global collective of women to raise awareness and inspire action to free Palestine. We also believe in liberation for Sudan, the Congo, Haiti, and all places where systems of oppression are causing immense suffering and crushing the life out humans. We are led by women of the Global Majority/BIPOC. Shades of Anger is for everyone who wants to act for liberation and you can learn more about it here.
