Some children make survival content, other people watch bombs fall on tourist boat trips

Shades of Anger, September 28, 2024

September 28, 2024

Good morning. Remember that every day is a good day to take action in support of Palestinian liberation.

LEARN. Take in both of these photos / information (original links here and here). Consider the contrast between Palestinian children creating content for survival and isr/eli’s taking boat tours for tourism.

Israel’s genocide in Gaza has forced children to create Instagram accounts in an effort to try to create interesting content to gain followers and donations to survive. They cook, dance, sing, show us their daily lives and try to be engaging with smiles and pleasant words while audible Israeli drones buzz above them in the background amidst genocide. They perform on video so they can survive. I’m so ashamed that this is what our western governments have created in Gaza, a hunger games style algorithmic competition that Palestinian children with access to a phone and the internet must play to survive. I’m so sorry this is the world we live in.

No words left. The Israeli civilians on a sea tour to enjoy the bombing of Gaza

NOTICE. Something. Anything. Our humanity requires us to face this reality.

ACT. Support a Palestinian family today. Donate to their survival campaign. If you don’t know a family, you can find one here.

SHARE. Forward this to five people and ask them to donate $5 or $10 (or more if they’re financially resourced) to at least one of these families.

ASK. What actions should we share in future posts? Please reply to this email (or, if you are reading this online, leave a comment below) to let us know.*

Shades of Anger was created by a global collective of women to raise awareness and inspire action to free Palestine. We chose the name of our collective to honor the poem, “Shades of Anger,” by Palestinian-Canadian poet Rafeef Ziadah. We also believe in liberation for Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, and all places where systems of oppression are causing immense suffering and crushing the life out humans. We are led by women of the Global Majority/BIPOC. Shades of Anger is for everyone who wants to act for liberation and you can learn more about it here.

Alt text: On the top half is a grey background with black text that reads "Shades of Anger 'Palestinians do not know the word impossible' - Fatima Bernawi, So why should we?" On the bottom half are three photos. The first is a photo of an adult with short greyy hair holding the hand of a young child, who is holding up a Palestinian flag high in their other hand, while standing on a hill overlooking a field of people and cars. The second is a black and white photo of a person with a long ponytail, holding a kuffiyeh and chanting at a protest. The last is a person wearing a kuffiyeh around their head, and a black and red dress, looking at the camera while holding up a Palestinian flag and a peace sign.
