Shades of Anger

May 1, 2024

Good morning! Always remember: YOU can take action to help liberate the people of Palestine, every day.

LEARN. Read this article from Al Jazeera by Mohamed Abdou, a North African-Egyptian Muslim anarchist interdisciplinary activist-scholar, to learn more about the connection between the liberation of Palestine and Turtle Island (the land currently known as North America).

Learn more about Turtle Island in this Youtube video. (To the Elders from Six Nations who shared this story and whose land I reside upon, Chi Miigwech.)

Image From Al Jazeera: “A Kuna Indigenous woman joins members of the Palestinian community in Panama protesting outside the Israeli embassy against Israel's military operations in Gaza and in support of the Palestinian people in Panama City on May 20, 2021 [File: Luis Acosta/AFP]”

NOTICE. What stood out to you while reading the article (and/or watching the video)? Do you feel surprised, angry, encouraged, frustrated, confused, something else?

ACT. Support Palestine Action by signing up to take direct action, donating finances, or joining one of their working groups. Take action on their website here.

SHARE. Right now, share this with three people who are interested in history or current events. Invite them to talk to you about the connections between Palestine and Turtle Island, and why it’s so important to secure rights for indigenous people everywhere.

ASK. What follow-up questions do you have? What does this make you want to learn more about? Reply to this email to let us know.

In solidarity for liberation for Palestine,

Rebecca Steckle, on behalf of the Shades of Anger collective

Shades of Anger was created by a global collective of women to raise awareness and inspire action to free Palestine. We also believe in liberation for Sudan, the Congo, Haiti, and all places where systems of oppression are causing immense suffering and crushing the life out humans. We are led by women of the Global Majority/BIPOC. Shades of Anger is for everyone who wants to act for liberation and you can learn more about it here.
