May 17, 2024

Good morning! It’s the week of May 15, the few days each year in which the world comes together to commemorate the Nakba (Arabic for “catastrophe”) that began in 1948. Find an action near you!

LEARN. Read this article from BDS Movement about their gathering in Brussels, scheduled for May 19.

Image credit: BDS Movement. Description: A screenshot of a graphic from BDS Movement. On a black background, there are three fists holding keys on top of a map outline of Palestine. The text reads, “Save the date; 19.05.2024, 1:30 pm, European march in Brussels for a Free Palestine; Stop the genocide, end the Nakba now, Europe act now; 76 years of ongoing Nakba”

NOTICE. How does it feel to be connected to this worldwide liberation movement? Do you feel proud, excited, angry, outraged, tired, loving, caring, or something else?

ACT. Search for Nakba actions happening over the next few days in your area or among online groups you’re a part of. Participate in as many as you can! Keep calling your elected officials. And donate to Palestinian causes, such as MedAid, here.

SHARE. Right now, send this email to 3 people you know who need a reminder to find a Nakba action to participate in over the weekend.

ASK. What else want to learn about the Nakba? Please reply to this email (or, if you are reading this online, leave a comment below) to let us know.*

In solidarity for Palestinian liberation,

Shades of Anger was created by a global collective of women to raise awareness and inspire action to free Palestine. We also believe in liberation for Sudan, the Congo, Haiti, and all places where systems of oppression are causing immense suffering and crushing the life out humans. We are led by women of the Global Majority/BIPOC. Shades of Anger is for everyone who wants to act for liberation and you can learn more about it here.
