Shades of Anger, June 2, 2024 post

June 2, 2024

Good morning. We have the capacity to recognize and act against the genocide of Palestinians in the West Bank too.

Editor’s note: join us next Wednesday, June 5, noon ET/New York time for a special community session on divesting. Go to our homepage and click on “Register for Community Sessions” in the top menu bar to get the registration link.

LEARN. Watch this video from Is/raeli Minister Bezalel Smotrich about how they “will ruin the West Bank like Gaza" and read this short article where he says the “West Bank Palestinian Resistance ‘must be fought like in Gaza.’”

NOTICE. What can you notice in your body after reading this? What feelings come up? What assumptions or beliefs were challenged when reading/watching, and what does this feel like in your body?

ACT. Write a post, share this email, make a poster for your window, put out a lawn sign - be vocal about the genocide in the West Bank. Share this video and article. You can also share articles and information from organizations like Al-Haq (here’s one article).

SHARE. Right now, send this email to 5 people or groups who do not know or are not talking about what the genocide looks like in the West Bank.

ASK. What did you learn in this video/article about the genocide in the West Bank? What do you want to learn more about to take action? Please reply to this email (or, if you are reading this online, leave a comment below) to let us know.*

In solidarity for Palestinian liberation,

Rebecca Steckle, on behalf of the Shades of Anger collective

*You can also continue the conversation with us in the Speaking Up Network, a private social media platform co-created by Animah Kosai, one of the leaders of Shades of Anger.

Shades of Anger was created by a global collective of women to raise awareness and inspire action to free Palestine. We chose the name of our collective to honor the poem, “Shades of Anger,” by Palestinian-Canadian poet Rafeef Ziadah. We also believe in liberation for Sudan, the Congo, Haiti, and all places where systems of oppression are causing immense suffering and crushing the life out humans. We are led by women of the Global Majority/BIPOC. Shades of Anger is for everyone who wants to act for liberation and you can learn more about it here.
