Funders for a Ceasefire Now
Shades of Anger, June 12, 2024 post
June 12, 2024
Good morning. Remember that every choice you make with your money is an opportunity to support Palestinian liberation!
LEARN. Read the “Philanthropy Open Letter for Humanity and Justice,” on this webpage.
Image description: the background is dark olive green and the title in white letters reads, “FUNDERS FOR A CEASEFIRE NOW.”
NOTICE. How do you feel about funders and philanthropists speaking out against the genocide in Gaza? Do you feel empowered, energized, inspired, or something else? And how do you feel about funders who are NOT using their voices, money OR power to demand a ceasefire in Gaza?
ACT. Use your own money and other resources to fund ongoing work to free Palestine. Here are some of suggestions from our team:
Learn more and register for an online baking class, an Eid Al-Adha fundraiser for 15 families in Gaza (led by SOA member Rebecca Steckle, and Asmaa Haidara)

Provide eSims to people in Gaza;
Use Robin Divine’s excellent guide to support verified fundraisers;
Join with others in your community to boycott and divest from Israeli interests.
SHARE. Right now, send this email to 3 people you know who have influence over the way any group spends or invests money, whether families, businesses, municipalities, community or philanthropy organizations. Tell them how important this is to you personally and ask them to take action!
ASK. What ways are you supporting Palestinians, or boycotting and/or divesting? Please reply to this email (or, if you are reading this online, leave a comment below) to let us know.*
In solidarity for Palestinian liberation,
Kay Coughlin, on behalf of the Shades of Anger collective
*You can also continue the conversation with us in the Speaking Up Network, a private social media platform co-created by Animah Kosai, one of the leaders of Shades of Anger.
Shades of Anger was created by a global collective of women to raise awareness and inspire action to free Palestine. We chose the name of our collective to honor the poem, “Shades of Anger,” by Palestinian-Canadian poet Rafeef Ziadah. We also believe in liberation for Sudan, the Congo, Haiti, and all places where systems of oppression are causing immense suffering and crushing the life out humans. We are led by women of the Global Majority/BIPOC. Shades of Anger is for everyone who wants to act for liberation and you can learn more about it here.
