Community Session Video and Resources (April 18, 2024 post)

Shades of Anger

April 18, 2024

Good morning! Always remember: YOU can take action to help liberate the people of Palestine, every day.

LEARN. Here are the resources we shared in our community meeting yesterday, April 17. (Register to attend the session next Wednesday, April 24, here.)

  • We do not ask for compensation for doing the Shades of Anger work, instead, this week we are asking for donations to aid the people of Palestine, here.

  • We will continue the conversation about speaking up at work in the “Speaking Up Network” community created by Shades of Anger leader Animah Kosai. Sign up here.

  • “Resources for Palestine” guide, created and updated frequently by Robin Divine, here. Robin is a Black woman creator and we ask you to pay her for her labor to create this excellent guide by buying her a coffee here or becoming a paid subscriber to her Substack, “Poverty Sucks,” here.

  • Legal Centre for Palestine, for Palestinians in Canada who need help because of intimidation or discrimination, here.

  • Waitlist for the “Critical Thinking in Violent Times” course facilitated by Shades of Anger leader Amena Chaudhry, here.

NOTICE. The questions we asked in the session today were:

  1. Who could you talk with at work [about Palestine] where the risk would be low? So you can build your muscle for this fast.

  2. What emotions come up for you when you try to speak, or think about speaking up at work?

  3. Name one specific action you will take at work because of today’s reflection.

ACT. Do the action you named in question 3, above.

SHARE. Right now, forward this email to one colleague, one family member and one friend. Invite them to watch the video or review one of the resources we shared today and talk about it with you.

ASK. What resources do you need to help you speak up at work about Palestine? Reply to this email to let us know.

In solidarity for liberation for Palestine,

Kay Coughlin, on behalf of the Shades of Anger collective

Shades of Anger was created by a global collective of women to raise awareness and inspire action to free Palestine. We also believe in liberation for Sudan, the Congo, Haiti, and all places where systems of oppression are causing immense suffering and crushing the life out humans. We are led by women of the Global Majority/BIPOC. Shades of Anger is for everyone who wants to act for liberation and you can learn more about it here.

In the centre of the image, in black text, the text reads, “Shades of Anger,” with a quote from Fatima Bernawi below that reads, “Palestinians do not know the meaning of the word impossible.” Below that, the text reads, “Why should we?” On the right is a photo with a sign that reads, “Amplify your voice”
