Shades of Anger, May 9, 2024
May 9, 2024
Good morning! Always remember: YOU can take action to help liberate the people of Palestine, every day.
Editor’s note: this Saturday, May 11, is World Keffiyeh Day. Plan to wear a keffiyeh proudly that day! Learn more about the symbolism of the keffiyeh, and find out where to buy one, here.
LEARN. Here are the resources we shared in the online community session yesterday (register for the next one here).
Trigger warning: in the video below of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, he focuses on using an outdated and irresponsible definition of zionism.
NOTICE. In our session yesterday, we acknowledged that the movement to free Palestine has been showing increasing signs and presence of white supremacy, racism, colonialism, zionism, and Christian nationalism. These are incredibly harmful systems of oppression, especially for people of the GM/BIPOC folks. We see white people who are inappropriately centering whiteness in the movement! Think about how to re-center Palestinians in your liberation work, and practice doing it.
ACT. Support Medical Aid for Palestine (MAP), here, with as generous a gift as possible.
SHARE. Right now, share this with five people who need to feel the power of supportive community.
ASK. What topics would you like us to cover in future emails? Send your ideas and resources to us by replying to this email.
In solidarity for Palestinian liberation,
Kay Coughlin, on behalf of the Shades of Anger collective
Shades of Anger was created by a global collective of women to raise awareness and inspire action to free Palestine. We also believe in liberation for Sudan, the Congo, Haiti, and all places where systems of oppression are causing immense suffering and crushing the life out humans. We are led by women of the Global Majority/BIPOC. Shades of Anger is for everyone who wants to act for liberation and you can learn more about it here.

In the centre of the image, in black text, the text reads, “Shades of Anger,” with a quote from Fatima Bernawi below that reads, “Palestinians do not know the meaning of the word impossible.” Below that, the text reads, “Why should we?” On the right is a photo of an outdoor gathering by a wall, with a sign that reads, “Amplify your voice”
