Boycott Am4zon Prime Days 2024
Shades of Anger, July 5, 2024 post
July 5, 2024
Good morning. Remember, every day is a good day to boycott corporations that supports human rights violations around the world and provides infrastructure for the Israeli government’s genocide in Gaza.
LEARN. Read about many of the ways Amazon supports oppression and human rights violations on the Investigate.info website, here.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform are developing a new cloud infrastructure for the Israeli government. Dubbed Project Nimbus, this is one of the largest technology projects in Israel’s history. The two companies’ role in the project is providing cloud infrastructure for the government, initially through their existing data centers located outside Israel, but from 2023 through new local data centers they are contracted to set up.
Amazon and Google were selected for the Nimbus Project in April 2021 and are splitting the $1.2 billion contract. As part of the contract, the two companies have also committed to “reciprocal procurement and industrial cooperation in Israel at the rate of 20% of the contract value.”
NOTICE. Amazon provides many services, such as Prime reading, and owns many popular companies, like Whole Foods, Zappos and Twitch. Prior to reading this post, did you know that when you use these companies, you are supporting Amazon’s commitment to disregard for: Palestinian rights to survive, human rights, fair labor practices, and market monopoly practices around the world?
ACT. Boycott Amazon’s Prime Days (July 16-17, 2024). Refuse to buy anything else from Amazon for the month of July, and instead buy from more ethical businesses and local businesses wherever possible. On social media, use and share the tag #AntiPrime. Here on the Shades of Anger site, go to the AntiPrime page for information and resources on Amazon.

SHARE. Forward this to at least 5 friends and colleagues who use Amazon products and services, and who need to know that by shopping elsewhere, they can join the global fight to pressure Amazon to improve their business practices and positions on human rights.
ASK. What resources do you need to help you boycott Amazon Prime Days? Please reply to this email (or, if you are reading this online, leave a comment below) to let us know.*

Shades of Anger was created by a global collective of women to raise awareness and inspire action to free Palestine. We chose the name of our collective to honor the poem, “Shades of Anger,” by Palestinian-Canadian poet Rafeef Ziadah. We also believe in liberation for Sudan, the Congo, Haiti, and all places where systems of oppression are causing immense suffering and crushing the life out humans. We are led by women of the Global Majority/BIPOC. Shades of Anger is for everyone who wants to act for liberation and you can learn more about it here.
